Ponoko is a web based, on-demand, manufacturer (the very abbreviated description). They offer a service to designers, (anyone really) that combines the infrastructure required to create objects, sell them, and even collaborate with others within their own community.
While I really like the idea and have considered using the site from time to time, the aspects I find most interesting and informative at the moment are the instructional blog articles. They are written in such a way that anyone can understand the ideas, yet they contain really useful tips on a range of subjects such as web based selling, production tolerances and general design ideas.
