Today various South Pacific communities will be preparing for the return of their mysterious spiritual leader; John Frum, just as they do on the 15th February every year.
There is an interesting article in the Smithsonian Magazine about these followers and many others like them, there is also some discussion of these "Cargo Cults" in Richard Dawkins' excellent book The God Delusion.

I tend to steer clear of the religion topic, but this was a slightly cryptic way of putting some views out there.
The John Frum reference always stuck in my memory as I was born on the 15th.
