d3o

d3o is a company I have been following for quite sometime now, they produce a polymer substance that is soft and pliable until subjected to an impact, then it becomes rigid. This makes it an ideal material for various applications, everything from military watch mechanisms, ballet pointe shoes, snow board hats and all manner of body armour.
When I was digging up the link to show someone the material recently, I was thrilled to note that a Japanese company, Hyod Products , is now producing a set of leathers with full d3o armour. Even better is that they haven't been given the full Power Ranger treatment (well, not too badly).
